Meniere's Disease Research Trial
29 November 2016
Mr Rea has been working on a research trial led by his colleagues at Imperial in London over a number of years on a long term study of intra-tympanic therapies for Meniere’s Disease (that is injections of drugs into the ear).
The paper was published by the hugely prestigious international journal The Lancet, on November 16th 2016. Two treatments showed a 90% reduction in vertigo attacks 2 years after starting the treatment.
Mr Rea is already using the therapies at The London Road Clinic on his patients. This is potentially a very significant piece of work and one he been very proud to be part of. A number his patients from the clinic participated in the trial and a huge thank you goes out to them for the time and effort they provided in participating.
For anyone interested (and wishing to read a scientific paper) it is available to view on line. If you enter the paper title on Google it will come up: Intra-tympanic methylprednisolone versus gentamicin in patients with unilateral Meniere’s Disease: a randomised, double-blinded, comparative effectiveness trial.
